Brief To extend ITV Sport’s viewer experience beyond the restrictions of the TV show’s broadcast times and build a dedicated user base, provide 24/7 news coverage and integrate the TV and web experience.
Solution We drew on our experience in motorsport to create a site that satisfied the needs of both experienced F1 fans and those new to the sport. A permanent team of three journalists expanded the amount of content and redefined the way it was presented to make it more accessible. Regular communication with the TV crew ensured a consistency of tone within our up-to-the minute news, features, columns and profiles. The site also delivers unique video content and live streaming of practice, qualifying and race sessions.
Result Traffic to the site has more than trebled. The site leads the ITV sport proposition in both traffic and revenues and has become a viable project in its own right, delivering three times the UK traffic of the official F1 site, but more importantly is the leading channel across ITV.
